Taylor & Josh’s Love Story | A New Year Winter Wedding in Emporia Kansas

We kicked off the new year right with Taylor and Josh’s wedding in Emporia. Their new year winter wedding was gorgeous and full of details; from the bridesmaids robes and Starbucks cups, to the cider and s’mores bar at the reception. We met up with Taylor and her bridesmaids early in the morning for their devotional before heading to the salon for hair and make up. This group of girls was so much fun to hang out with all morning! The rest of the day was filled with emotion. These two set the bar high for first looks this year. Josh’s reaction was priceless, and we were so glad we were able to capture it. In his own words, “My bride almost put me on my butt!” When we capture moments like that, we are immediately reminded why we do what we do as wedding photographers. Taylor had the whole winter wedding thing down, as you can see, with her fur stole and her bridesmaids wraps. Even though the day turned out less-than-wintery, the evening threw us right back into winter wedding mode with a full on snowstorm. After eating an amazing dinner, listening to some heartfelt toasts, and sweet first dances, Josh and his groomsmen surprised everyone – including Taylor – with an amazing choreographed dance routine and some pretty special shirts made especially for the wedding. The entire reception hall was in stitches from laughter, Taylor included. All evening, Joe and I had been patiently (or impatiently) watching through the windows for the snowfall to be just perfect. Once we saw our moment, we grabbed Taylor and Josh and led them outside to the back patio. We were all soaked from the wet rain, but we captured some of our favorite snowy photos ever. Overall, Taylor and Josh’s new year winter wedding was full to the brim with amazing moments. We are more than thrilled to have been a part of such an amazing day, and such a meaningful love story!
