Fall Colorado Wedding | Intimate Mountain Elopement | Durango Colorado

Jenne & Robert’s fall Colorado adventure wedding in the mountains around Durango could not have been timed more perfectly. The first weekend of October saw peak aspen color and it was gorgeous. The rugged mountains dazzled with bright yellow when the sun hit them. Jenne and Robert planned an adventure wedding with their closest friends and family, and of course, their three adorable dogs. Their ceremony took place in a valley just outside of Durango, Colorado, with a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. Guests (ourselves included) were given a pin drop to navigate to to find the ceremony site – marked with a sign pointing towards a beautiful wooden arch. Jenne and her bridesmaids hid in the aspens just down the hill from the ceremony site. It was an ideal spot for some photos, and last minute notes in Jenne’s vow book. As the ceremony was about to start, Jenne’s father made his way to meet her while Jenne’s bridesmaids helped her along the small path to her “aisle”. Their ceremony was simple and sweet, with lots of happy tears, puppy kisses, and even a growler of beer. Proof that dogs should always be invited to ceremonies: when everyone cheered them on for their first kiss, their pups barked and howled right along with everyone. After the ceremony, we realized the sun was rapidly setting, so we stole Jenne and Robert away while their guests headed back to the ranch for the reception (and some tasty create-your-own burgers!) On our way into town the previous day, we had found a field with an amazing view of the mountains we knew we had to stop at. We couldn’t believe our eyes at how colorful the sunset was. Sometimes, it’s all being in the right place at the right time. I think we all had to tear ourselves away from the landscape, remembering there was a party to get to!
